| | Festival OverviewThe Festival, the “signature event” for Canadian Aboriginal peoples will be staged over four days. Organizers are confident that attendance will exceed past years with more than 40,000 visitors taking in the festival.

Visitors to the festival over the past fifteen years have included Canadians from across the country, numerous American visitors and many from various off shore countries.

The festival has literally something for everyone... the Canadian Aboriginal Music Awards, Education Day, music and performing arts venues, traditional foods, excellent shopping and information at more than 150 booths and the centerpiece of the festival – Canada’s largest Pow Wow.
The Pow Wow attracts over 1,000 dancers from every corner of North America. The Pow Wow starts with a Grand Entry when all dancers dance into the dance circle in full regalia to the beat of the drums. The motion, colour and sound of the Grand Entry is spectacular and for many visitors, emotional. In addition to the dancers, veterans, both Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal, Elders, Aboriginal members of the armed forces and various police organizations and others also participate in the Grand Entries. Theme of the Pow Wow will be “Saluting Our Warriors”, past and present. Visitors are advised to arrive early to take in the Main Stage Performances, which features traditional performances, by some of North America’s outstanding artists. Grand Entries are scheduled for Saturday, 1:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. and on Sunday at 12:00 noon. The Main Stage performances start an hour before the Grand Entry. Back to top
